Black Creek Pottery Votive Candle Holder
Earth-tone pot features cutout leaf and circle patterns, a ribbed texture, and a shiny glazed inside. The studio name is impressed on the bottom edge and artist signature on bottom— 4” high— 4” wide. This piece was created in 1991 where Jackie lived in Clarence, NY before she moved to Florida. Black Creek Pottery is made from stoneware clay, dug from the earth. The clay is dried and then fired twice in an electric kiln. The first firing is bisque fired, then glazed and fired again in an oxidation atmosphere to approximately 2232 degrees Fahrenheit. Each firing takes about 12 hours plus another day for the kiln to cool enough to open. Once it is fired to maturity it is dense, impermeable and hard enough to resist scratching and can be used to produce tableware and art ware. All of the clays and glazes used in Black Creek Pottery are safe for use with food.
